It was once the year 1982: Nikes designer legend Bruce Kilgore designed a completely new shoe and thus justified a hype that has been holding four decades, because Nike Air Force 1 has always been one of the most popular basketball shoes.

The model of Air Force 1 was a hiking shoe

Yes, you read properly. Kilgore designed the AF1 based on the Nike Approach hiking shoes. The reason for this is the downward shaft that offers stability without losing flexibility. 

High thanks to Air soles

The Air Force 1 were the first shoes for basketball players with the Nike Air technology. The soles consist of air -filled chambers inside that flexibly adapt to your foot while you run and jump. The air-soles elements also reduce bumps, which relieves your joints. Nevertheless, the shoe remains light and is extremely pleasant to wear. No wonder that sports legends like Jeff Ruland and Moses Malone swore on these shoes.

Air Force 1 conquer the world

In the beginning only basketball players wore the Nike Air Force 1, they soon became an emblem of the Streetwear. Originally, the AF1 should only be produced for 2 years. In the meantime, however, the demand is so great that Nike now regularly develops new designs. This not only includes color adjustments - also in shoe design itself. While there were initially only low and high Air Force 1, there is now also a medium -high variant.

A lot has also happened in the upper material. So there is the classic Air Force 1 made of leather. In the meantime there are also models with synthetic fibers. A combination of the best of both worlds is Nike Flyleather. This is a mixture of recycled leather fibers and synthetic materials. Compared to conventional full scars, it is much easier, more abrasion -resistant and more sustainable.

How do the Air Force 1 from Nike are?

The answer depends on which shoe brand you usually wear shoes. If the Air Force 1 is your first Nike shoes, you should rather buy them a little bigger. Nike shoes are often a little smaller compared to other brands. For example, if you wear a 42, for example, you should choose a 42.5 at the Air Force 1. 

On the other hand, you have already learned to love Nike shoes and would like to add another model to your collection, we recommend half a size smaller. The reason for this is that the Air Force 1 is greater than other Nike models. Otherwise you wear a 42.5 with Nike shoes, you should first try the 42 with the AF1.
