Air Jordan 6: his history
In 1991 Tinker Hatfield unveiled the legendary Air Jordan 6 Series, who was supposed to set new standards with a completely new design. Six years after the release of the Jordan 1 Series, Michael Jordan, with the new model at the foot, entered his first NBA champion title.
The Nike model was first published in five different colorways led by the White Infrared and the Black Infrared.
The new design
Tinker Hatfield struggled again with this silhouette and completely removed from the design of the Jordan 1 Series. As inspiration, he took an Italian shoe that was made of a single piece and only one material. To make the sneaker easier, Hatfield decided to use suede instead of normal leather. The Air Jordan 6 Series was the first model that included a Heeltab. It was another practical detail, which was used to simplify the tying of the sneakers. This was inspired by the spoiler of Michael Jordan's Porsch.
The tongue was also revised and offered a better hold with two openings and more breathability. The Air Jordan 6 was the last model where there was still a visible air bubble in the midsole.
The 6 Series and his collaborations
Even if the 6 Series does not apply to the most successful models, he had his prime in the subject of collaborations between 2010 and 2017. Among them fell Jordan Motorsports, Macklemore, the Manga Slam Dunk and Gatorade. However, the first collaboration took place together with patients in 2009 as part of the Doernbrug program.
The most popular collaboration took place in 2019 with the US rapper Travis Scott, who brought the sneaker out in two new colorways. These had the peculiarity of having attached small bags with push buttons on the sides.
